Basic Info

Bond:

There are several types of bond forms including Bid, Performance, License & Permit, Fiduciary and Court bonds. These bonds provide a financial guarantee that all contracted services are performed as agreed upon.


Business Auto:

A commercial auto policy that includes auto liability and auto physical damage coverages. Except for auto-related businesses and motor carrier or trucking firms, the business auto policy addresses the needs of most commercial entities as respects auto insurance.


Business Owners Policy (BOP):

One policy that combines several types of coverage together for a price that’s often less than buying the policies separately. Written for small businesses and usually includes coverage for property, liability, crime and business interuption.


Commercial Property:

Insures against damage to their buildings and contents due to a covered cause of loss, such as a fire. The policy may also cover loss of income or increase in expenses that result from the property damage.


Directors & Officers (D&O):

Insures corporate directors and officers against claims, most often by stockholders and employees, alleging financial loss arising from mismanagement.


Employer’s Practices Liablity (EPLI):

A form of liability insurance covering wrongful acts arising from the employment process. The most frequent types of claims alleged under such policies include: wrongful termination, discrimination, and sexual harassment.


Errors & Ommissions (E&O):

Protects the insured against liability for committing an error or omission in performance of professional duties. Generally, such policies are designed to cover financial losses rather than liability for bodily injury and property damage.


General Liablity:

Designed to protect business owners and operators from a wide variety of liability exposures. Exposures could include liability arising from accidents resulting from the insured’s premises or operations, products sold by the insured, operations completed by the insured, and contractual liability.


Worker’s Compensation:

Provides coverage for an employee who has suffered an injury or illness resulting from job-related duties. Coverage includes medical and rehabilitation costs and lost wages for employees injured on the job.


Package:

A policy that provides both liability and property coverage for businesses and other organizations.


Professional Liability:

Coverage designed to protect traditional professionals (e.g., physicians) against liability incurred as a result of errors and omissions in performing professional services.


Umbrella:

Coverage for losses above the limit of an underlying policy or policies. While it applies to losses over the dollar amount in the underlying policies, terms of coverage are sometimes broader than those of underlying policies.


Special Event:

Inland Marine:

Coverages designed to insure exposures that cannot be conveniently or reasonably confined to a fixed location or insured at a standard rate under a standard form. Includes coverage for property in transit over land, certain moveable property, property under construction, instrumentalities of transportation and communication (such as bridges, roads, piers, and television and radio towers), legal liability coverage for bailees, and computerized equipment.
